This manual is for Arch Linux - System Maintenance / System Update

Q: How can I upgrade my system to the latest version?
A: Arch Linux utilizes pacman as the packet manager.

How to perform a System Update

You need to execute the following command:

# pacman -Syu

 


This will update all packages on your system.

If you would like to update a single package/program, in this excample we will upgrade Chromium 
you need to execute the following command:

# pacman -S chromium


Replace chromium with the program you would like to update.
