General Summary The following Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) will set forth general and specific information in regards to the use of White Sands Hosting infrastructure. Infrastructure in this regard will consist of, but not be limited to, bandwidth, transport, servers, switches, IP address and any other equipment that will transmit, receive or otherwise be a vehicle of transmission of data of any sort. Further set forth in this document will be information about general acceptable and unacceptable use. It is the duty of all users of offerings to read and thoroughly understand the information set forth in this document. We explicitly reserve the right to enforce this document and further reserve the right to add to, update, change, modify or otherwise deem at any given time, conduct unbecoming and act as we see fit.

Content or Services not allowed on our Webhosting, VPS and Dedicated Servers are:
  • constitutes, depicts, fosters, promotes or relates in any manner to child pornography, bestiality, or non-consensual sex acts;
  • constitutes illegal pornography
  • No Bitcoin Mining (or any other virtual currency)
  • No peer to peer file sharing applications are allowed. Peer to Peer programs can have high demands on bandwidth and CPU and might affect other uses negatively on the Hardware Node. Examples (not a complete list) are Gnutella, Kazaa or Edonky
  • Any content that is excessively violent, threatens violence, incites violence, hate speech or harassing content is not allowed
  • Any content that is defamatory or violates a person’s privacy is not allowed.
  • Content that compromises national security, or interferes with an investigation by law enforcement is not allowed.
  • Content that clearly infringes on another person’s trade or service mark, patent or other property right is not allowed.
  • Content that promotes illegal drugs, violates export control laws, relates to illegal gambling or illegal arms trafficking is not allowed.
  • Use of IRC is not allowed (Servers, Clients or bouncers)
  • DDOS attacks, originating or receiving will not be tolerated.

Network Filtering/Blocking
Users in violation of any provision set forth in this document may have content or traffic blocked or filtered as a remedy of abuse. Notification of such filtering/blocking likely will be sent to the user, however there is no guarantee that such notification will be sent.
Filtering/blocking may be manual or automatic depending on the nature of the offence.

Hacking, cracking, distribution of viruses, fraudulent activities, network sabotage, pyramid schemes, phishing, and/or any conduct deemed illegal or unwanted shall be subject to suspension or termination. Users are responsible for the proper secure configuration of their services and are responsible for any damages caused by their neglect or exposure of vulnerabilities whether intentional or unintentional. Recurring abuse complaints on resold services, shared servers or VPS servers will incur in an Administrative fee of $5. Exceeding 3 different complaints on all services in one month is considered excessive (Re-occurring complaints in one same IP after the case was closed will be counted as different complaints). Abuse notifications are expected to be resolved by the customer within the below time frames. Failure to resolve the issue in the given time span will lead to service suspension. Note that a reactivation fee of 25$ may apply to your services after being suspended.

  • spam: 24h resolution
  • security: 48h resolution

You must take reasonable security precautions. You must protect the confidentiality of your password, and you should change your password periodically. You also need to keep yourself informed about the Software that is runnin on your Server. Keep them updated!

Password Policy:
  • Minimum Length - 8 characters recommended
  • Minimum complexity - No dictionary words included. Passwords should use three of four of the following four types of characters: Lowercase Uppercase Numbers Special characters such as !@#$%^&*(){}[]

If you change your root Password on your Dedicated server or VPS please also change it in your control panel.
If we get support requests for assisting you and your password on file does not work we will reset your password to the password on file.

Unsolicited E-Mail
You may not send any unsolicited e-mail, either in bulk or individually, to any person who has indicated that they do not wish to receive it. You must comply with the rules of any other network you access or participate in using your White Sands Hosting VPS’s services.

Bulk Commercial E-Mail
You must obtain White Sands Hosting's advance approval for any bulk commercial e-mail, which will not be given unless you are able to demonstrate all of the following to White Sands Hosting's reasonable satisfaction:
  • Your intended recipients have given their consent to receive e-mail via some affirmative means, such as an opt-in procedure;
  • Your procedures for soliciting consent include reasonable means to ensure that the person giving consent is the owner of the e-mail address for which the consent is given;
  • You retain evidence of the recipient's consent in a form that may be promptly produced on request, and you honor recipient's and White Sands Hosting's requests to produce consent evidence within 72 hours of receipt of the request.
  • The body of the e-mail must describe how the e-mail address was obtained, for example, "You opted in to receive this e-mail promotion from our Web site or from one of our partner sites? and information on how to request evidence of the consent, for example, "If you would like to learn more about how we received your e-mail address please contact us at".
  • You have procedures in place that allow a recipient to easily revoke their consent - such as a link in the body of the e-mail, or instructions to reply with the word "Remove" in the subject line. Revocations of consent are honored within 72 hours, and you notify recipients that their revocation of their consent will be honored in 72 hours;
  • You must have a Privacy Policy posted for each domain associated with the mailing;
  • You have the means to track anonymous complaints;
  • You may not obscure the source of your e-mail in any manner. Your e-mail must include the recipients e-mail address in the body of the message or in the "TO:" line of the e-mail; and
  • You otherwise comply with the CAN SPAM Act and other applicable law.
These policies apply to messages sent using your White Sands Hosting service, or to messages sent from any network by you or any person on your behalf that directly or indirectly refer the recipient to a site hosted via your White Sands Hosting service. In addition, you may not use a third party e-mail service that does not practice similar procedures for all its customers.
White Sands Hosting may test and otherwise monitor your compliance with its requirements, including requesting opt-in information from a random sample of your list at any time.

Material Protected by Copyright
You may not publish, distribute, or otherwise copy in any manner any music, software, art, or other work protected by copyright law unless:
  • You have been expressly authorized by the owner of the copyright for the work to copy the work in that manner.
  • You are otherwise permitted by established United States copyright law to copy the work in that manner
White Sands Hosting will terminate the service of repeat copyright infringers.

Copyright Infringement Notice (Digital Millennium Copyright Act)
If you believe your copyright is being infringed by a person using the White Sands Hosting network, please send your written notice of copyright infringement to

Your notice must include the following:
  • A physical or electronic signature of a person authorized to act on behalf of the owner of an exclusive right that is allegedly infringed.
  • Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed, or if multiple copyrighted words at a single site are covered by a single notification, a representative list of such works at that site.
  • Identification of the material that is claimed to be infringing or to be the subject of infringing activity and that is to be removed or access to which is to be disabled, and information reasonably sufficient to permit White Sands Hosting to locate the material.
  • Information reasonably sufficient to permit White Sands Hosting to contact you, such as an address, telephone number, and, if available, an e-mail address.
  • A statement that you have a good faith belief that use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, the copyright owner’s agent, or the law.
  • A statement that the information in the notification is accurate, and under penalty of perjury that you are authorized to act on behalf of the owner of an exclusive right that is allegedly infringed.

White Sands Hosting is under no duty, and does not by this AUP undertake a duty, to monitor or police our customer's activities and disclaims any responsibility for any misuse of the White Sands Hosting network.
